And The Winner Is…!

….Tanya’s Kids!

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for Tanya Jacobucci! The votes are in and Tanya’s kids were a big winner of the WAT Microgrant for Digital Learning, sponsored by Dell. Her kids will be getting a $200 and a Flip Video camera. Tanya wanted to share a few words with you…

“I’m very excited to be a recipient of the flip camera and money. As of right now, our students will be (virtually) traveling to Chichen Itza, Mexico in September with a parent of some of our students with the help of the flip camera. In October, we will be visiting Hawaii and Oregon with a current and a retired teacher. We will be adding more projects as the year progresses and travel plans finalize. This project not only involves community members in our students’ learning, it gives many of our students an opportunity to see lots of places that otherwise they may never witness with their own eyes. Seeing these places and visiting with the person about what they’re seeing and learning virtually puts our students right there next to the traveller. What a great way to learn about our world and start to embrace other cultures! Thank you so much for taking the time to vote for us and to help us charge forward in our goal to help our students become global citizens!”

I am so pleased that you joined me in helping with this exciting challenge. I am so honored to have you all in my inner circle! I will be checking in with Tanya and her kids throughout the year to share with you their adventures and excitement! Let the lifetime of learning begin!
